I have to hand it to Sugarland. They are one of the "today's country" acts that I can actually enjoy on a regular basis. Each and every one of the duo's songs are carefully crafted to play in your head repeatedly. Their newest single, "Stuck Like Glue," is no exception. It is an infectious, playful, simple, acoustic country pop song branded with Sugarland's uniqueness.
I give Jennifer Nettles a lot of credit for not allowing herself to fall into the over exhausted practice of auto tune. She is one of the few singers that I respect as being a great singer that exudes overwhelming emotion in her voice. From the first line in "Stuck Like Glue," you can hear the giddiness as she proclaims her love for a significant other. Nettles and Kristian Bush's voices are a perfect fit as the chorus progresses. Their harmonizing just blows me away since natural harmonizing is a rare find...

To prepare for the next album, you should park yourself next to a twinkling Christmas tree, maybe some hot cocoa in your hand--though that might be overkill. If you don’t have a Christmas tree, fear not. Load this album onto your iPod and listen to it as you walk around rich neighborhoods with brightly lit houses at dusk.
Sugarland’s Christmas album
Green and Gold seems made for both scenarios. There’s something about country music that can be both sad and hopeful at the same time. It’s the underlying current of melancholy in country music that keeps me coming back for more. It’s not surprising, then, that even the more upbeat tracks on the record, like “Holly Jolly Christmas” sound almost as if Sugarland’s Jennifer Nettles and Kristian Bush are singing their hearts out in the snow, watching the visions of cheer from outside a fogged-up window. This is a Christmas album for the lonely during the...

Let’s get something straight right out of the gate: I love Sugarland. I love just about everything about them and everything they do. This new CD/DVD package
Live on the Inside is no exception. The CD gives us 10 live tracks while the DVD showcases their concert appearance at Rupp Arena in Lexington, KY.
Beginning with the richly coalescing track “Love” and winding down with the heart-wrenching poignancy of “Stay,” the audio half of this set is inspiring. The songs in between those bookends cover a wide range of musical styles, for you see most of the songs are live recordings of cover songs; songs they play on a regular basis at the shows. The variety of artists they cover shows the range of influences this duo has and how they view the musical landscape. There are outstanding covers of Pearl Jam's "Better Man", and R.E.M's "The One I Love" with the Kings of...
